Microsoft RIP!

By introducing my new business concept to a top notch developer I know he introduced me to Google Apps as a suggestion of what platform we should use to develop. I´ve been surfing the Google Code site and watching videos from Campfire One the introduction of Google Apps and I´m flabbergasted!

I´ve had the feeling in my gut for some time now ever since Microsoft made the desperate overpriced bet on Yahoo and since the gigantic first dividend, the Microsoft era is definitely in the beginning of the end. The same reasoning that Microsoft used to get big and beat the then existing megacorporations can be applied to Google "the power of information... if you control the platform...". Well Microsoft has dominated IT for a few decades through having a virtual monopoly on operating systems. The problem is operating systems aren´t the main IT-platform anymore. And Google got that a long time ago. Therefor they have built the dominating main tools of internet such as GMail etc. And now by the introduction of Google Apps, providing a smooth platform for app creation, its the online version of creating an operating system that programmers can use to create applications. This was what made Microsoft so big, being the preferred developer platform and the preferred user operating system. Well now google seem to have both parts of the equation in place and Microsoft is lagging hopelessly behind!

Well I´m not really a techie, just a techifan suit. So I might be totally wrong. But what the heck:

Microsoft RIP!
